My new mascara is an obscure one: Borghese. It's supposed to be really fancy, and it was a little pricey but I'm a bit of a sucker so I got it anyway. And it's pretty good. I'm not sure I'd say it's amazing - it's not very dramatic. But it doesn't smudge much - I don't end up with a mascara shadow under my eyes at the end of the day - and it still washes off easily! So that's fantastic.
My season of not wearing makeup has made me think about my reasons for doing so. In theory, wearing makeup is important to me because I feel like it is important to look good and to do what you can with what you have. I feel more composed and prepared for life when I'm wearing makeup. It's like a sign of participation in life, similar to decorating for Christmas perhaps. I also think that it honors your company to look good for them, by wearing makeup for instance.
At the same time, though, I don't really need it. I look okay without makeup. And Justin has told me that he prefers when girls don't wear a lot of makeup (which I find surprisingly freeing). So makeup is not always a priority to me - especially when I'm perpetually running late for work or fighting with my eye-makeup remover.
